Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company’s first Tesla Semi Truck deliveries will go to PepsiCo in December. This is a major milestone for the electric truck manufacturer, as it gears up for full-scale production of its new vehicle. The Tesla Semi Truck was unveiled earlier this year, and has generated a lot of interest from businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Musk unveiled the prototype of the futuristic, battery-powered Semi in 2017. He said that production for the Class 8 truck would begin by 2019. With many issues arising over the past few years, it’s finally here!
In a separate tweet, Musk clarified that the vehicle has a 500-mile range (805 km). It was unclear how many Semi trucks Tesla intended to manufacture.

Though the truck itself is priced at $180,000, it would only cost $140,000 after taking advantage of the U.S. subsidy program’s tax break–approved by the Senate.
In 2017, in an effort to cut fuel expenses and reduce emissions, PepsiCo ordered 100 of Tesla’s semi electric trucks.
